Changes for Nurses working as Limited Companies

Posted 14 Jul 14

Following the April 2014 budget, the government announced that it would be implementing changes to the way workers using limited companies are taxed.

The exact changes have not been announced yet, however widespread concern over the increasing non-payment of National Insurance Contributions (NIC) gives speculation that nurses and other professionals providing services to the NHS and other government institutions could possibly be targeted and could be required to have a PAYE scheme in place.

A leading tax consultant at Tawanda Accountants suggests that it’s unlikely that the government will stop nurses from offering services as Limited companies to the NHS altogether, but will ensure that they make their fair contributions to National Insurance.
